Week 45 This week we get some decks
The bits we received
And what we did with them
The forward deck went on first, which was very straight forward.
The larger deck was not quite so straight forward. I thought that the deck was a bit unsupported inboard between the two gun positions, so I added a small support. This is simply an off cut of deck planking, cut to the same height as the ply part outboard.
I also found that the plastic ledge below was a little too low, so I added a scrap of plank bring it up to the right height. The plank was actually a bit too thick at 1mm. It only needed about 0.5mm. Nothing a rub with sand paper didn't sort out. I measure parts like this with a vernier caliper, which is quick, easy and accurate.
Finally the deck was glued on carefully, making sure that it is square. I used Araldite for this as is glues onto plastic in some places.
The other two bits were put away safely for 'Ron
