Week 3  This week the aft keel section and frames 11, 12 & 13

The bits we received

And what we did with them

Again, I draw a line down the centre of the keel and then glued the two keel sections together, making sure the lines are exactly in line using a steel rule.

When the glue was dry I added the reinforcing plate, 10.  Temporarily put frame 7 in place and butt the plate 10 up against it, being careful not to glue the frame in place of course.

The rest of the parts will wait until the keel plate is complete.

The following assembly takes place after issue 4.

The frames were glued in place, again, making sure that they are central on the keel by measuring and marking the centre lines.  This was followed immediately by the rest of issue 4.

Hot tip of the week

Weigh down the keel with weights (tins of paint, bags of sugar, etc. if you don't have any weights) on a flat surface so that the keel is flat and straight.  This is really really important.
